This interactive lesson describes the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, a networking framework that characterises how information from a software application in one computer moves through a network to a software application in another computer. The OSI model breaks the flow of data down into seven layers: the physical layer, the presentation layer, the session layer, the transport layer, the network layer, the data link layer, and the physical layer.
