NCYTE_logo_Black_250Introducing the National Cybersecurity Training & Education Center (NCyTE)

We have changed our name to better reflect our growing role in cybersecurity education.

NCyTE Center is more than an acronym. Our “insight” into cybersecurity curriculum development, program advancement, and community building places us in a pivotal position to coordinate with other cybersecurity organizations to provide innovative and invaluable resources to the cybersecurity education community.

We are very proud of our contributions and accomplishments at CyberWatch West. In the six years since inception, we have been a dynamic source of the exceptional growth of the Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE) program. The goal of CAE is to reduce vulnerability in our national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and expertise in cyber defense (CD). Over 275 colleges and universities received (our) application assistance services as they worked toward CAE designation or re-designation. Forty-eight states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico are now homes to at least one CAE institution. Thousands of educators participated in workshops and webinars we have hosted or sponsored over the years. Our membership has grown ninefold and includes high schools, community colleges, and universities across the nation. We have earned our new designation as a CAE National Resource Center and are preparing for the future of cybersecurity education.

What’s next?

NCyTE Center will continue to guide college and university staff to develop and enhance their cybersecurity programs as CWW has in the past, but our reach will expand to serve high schools and colleges nationwide. We are working to provide a world-class one-stop repository of resources, support, and professional development for educators. We will assist colleges to find mentors to work toward CAE designation.

We plan greater efforts to build regional communities of cybersecurity experts from academia, industry, and research to facilitate more conversation and interaction fostering professional networks.

Students can continue to count on us to find ways to support and enhance their studies as well as assist them as they transition into their careers. By creating more ways to make professional connections and employment events, we can help companies find the cybersecurity staff they need and help graduates land the positions they are seeking. CyberWatch West members are now NCyTE Center members. Please watch for these changes and more in the coming months. Sign up for our monthly email newsletter to get updates.
