Who Should Attend:
This workshop is funded and tailored specifically for community and technical college faculty members wishing to expand their knowledge, earn an industry certification, and strengthen their ability to incorporate new cybersecurity content in their community college curriculum. This workshop is not intended for students or other non-faculty participants.
About the Workshop:
The workshop is designed specifically for community college faculty, focusing on the expansive capabilities of Microsoft Azure in the realm of artificial intelligence. This workshop is tailored to prepare participants for the Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals exams, emphasizing hands-on experience with Azure's AI tools and services. The workshop curriculum is structured to cover a broad spectrum of AI topics, beginning with an overview of AI workloads and considerations, which form a significant portion of the course content. Participants will be immersed in the foundational principles of machine learning on Azure, gaining practical skills in building, training, and deploying machine learning models.
The workshop will delve into specialized AI domains within Azure, including computer vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and generative AI workloads. Faculty members will explore the intricacies of implementing AI solutions for visual data analysis and processing, as well as understanding and interpreting human language using Azure’s advanced NLP tools. A significant focus is also placed on generative AI workloads, where participants will learn about Azure's capabilities in creating innovative AI models. Throughout the workshop, attendees will engage in practical exercises, applying their knowledge to real-world scenarios, ensuring they leave not only prepared for the Azure AI Fundamentals exams but also equipped to incorporate these cutting-edge AI applications into their educational programs.
Stipend:
Eligible community college faculty will receive up to a $1,000 stipend upon successfully completing the academy.
To be eligible for the stipends, you must:
- Currently teach college credit courses (full-time or adjunct) at a regionally accredited U.S. community or technical college
- Attend all sessions and complete the required assignments/projects
- Provide a current W9 tax form to the NCyTE Center
- Participation stipends will be prioritized to individuals that have not received NCyTE support in the past year
Facilitators:
Jiri Jirik, Director, Education Pathways National Center at Moraine Valley Community College and Kyle Jones, Information Technology Chair at Sinclair Community College will lead the workshop.
