Microsoft Azure Security Technologies
Virtual | March 25-28, 2024
8AM - 4PM Pacific / 9AM - 5PM Mountain / 10AM - 6PM Central / 11AM - 7PM Eastern
Who Should Attend:
This workshop is funded and tailored specifically for community and technical college faculty members wishing to expand their knowledge, earn an industry certification, and strengthen their ability to incorporate new cybersecurity content in their community college curriculum. This workshop is not intended for students or other non-faculty participants.
About the Workshop:
This workshop is designed to equip community college faculty with the knowledge needed to teach and implement Microsoft Azure's administration and security features. Tailored to provide hands-on experience, this workshop delves into the core aspects of Azure security, preparing participants for the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate and Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate exams. Through a combination of expert instruction and practical labs, participants will gain a deep understanding of Azure's security capabilities and how they can be integrated into educational and professional settings.
The course begins with an in-depth exploration of Microsoft Azure Security Solutions, focusing on Azure Active Directory (AD) and Enterprise Identity Management. Participants will learn how to effectively implement Azure AD Identity Protection, understanding the nuances of identity management in a cloud environment. This is followed by practical sessions on implementing multi-factor authentication and Azure AD Privilege Identity Management, which are crucial for maintaining security in Azure environments. The workshop also covers Azure VM Security and Azure Container Security, providing insights into securing virtual machines and containerized applications. Additionally, faculty will gain hands-on experience with Role-Based Access Control, configuring monitoring metrics, logs, and alerts, essential for maintaining oversight and responding promptly to security events.
The final part of the workshop addresses the broader aspects of Azure's security infrastructure, including Azure virtual networks, network security, and WAN configurations. Participants will learn how to design and implement secure network architectures within Azure, understanding the principles of network segmentation and perimeter security. The course also covers data protection and security compliance, ensuring that participants are well-versed in the latest compliance standards and best practices for securing data in the cloud. By the end of the workshop, faculty members will not only be prepared to pass the Azure security certification exams but also equipped with the skills and knowledge to incorporate Azure security technologies into their teaching curriculum, enhancing the learning experience for their students.
